Trip to the Science Park #858

I've had a couple of people come in from Liverpool Science Park this morning wanting to create links between us and them, which is something I'm all for - I'd far rather make a friend than an enemy, and they have a lot of people there for whom DoES may well offer useful services.

One in particular said numerous times how she didn't care if cool things got made there or here, so long as they were happening in Liverpool, which is a theme that recurs in DoES too.

I've said I'll arrange a visit up there so we can see a bit more where we can work together (initial thoughts are that we would do a 'meet DoES' lunch over there, as well as cross promoting events that are held in each others spaces and possibly guest hosting each others events too to help attendees better understand what facilities are available to them in the city), and that I'd fins out if anyone else was interested in coming along. If not, I'm happy to go on my own, but I'm sure there'll be some takers.

Hello to all of you!

This has been arranged for 9:30am next Thursday morning. Anyone who wants to come along is more than welcome. @drfraz, will you be available?

Hello.

I went along to LSP this morning, and had a little look around. I was introduced to Angel Solutions, who have an awesome circus styled office (genuinely very well done), and love to get out of the office for innovation days, making and creating things.

There was a suggestion of some quid pro quo usages of each others spaces and skills, as they have a video editing suite which we could utilise for promotional stuff, as well as a lot of devs who would apparently love the challenge of using some of their innovation/away time to reverse engineer some software for our Huge Laser Cutter.

As well as this, Phillippa has again proposed that we try to forge closer links, and has invited us to do Meet The Maker style events or workshops in their space. We can introduce ourselves to the people that work there, and let them know a) that we exist, and b) what they can do here. I'll certainly be pushing forward with something along those lines, although what that might be will very much depend on who else might be interested in pitching in.

All in all, seems like it was a worthwhile trip.
