LL Not pulling full book list from GoodReads #450

I have added the author Andy McNab to LL, but when it pulled his book list, it only pulled 36 books, while Goodreads lists 105 distinct works.

Trying to import Liberation Day by this author, and the book is on Goodreads, but is not included in the 36 pulled by LL, and therefore will not import.

Correctly read 105 books but some were rejected. Left me with 68.

The "bad language" ones are supposedly foreign language, I see some dutch and italian in there. The duplicates are where the book title matches - debug log lists them as they are processed so you can check.

Your result of 35 (vs my 68) might be because you hit an error before page 5?? Hopefully the debug log will show if this is the case, and give us a clue why.

Tried to refresh the author because LL is still using a cached version of the goodreads search and pulls. Is there any way to flush the cached requests so I can try a fresh refresh?

Refresh author will reload the author pages (name, dates, lists of books) which should be enough.

It won't reload the individual book pages. If you want to reload everything, in config -> processing set cache expiry to 0, or delete your XML cache (on linux rm .lazylibrarian/cache/XMLCache/*)

Maybe try deleting the author from lazylibrarian and then search for him again. Looks like we are skipping books we've already got in the database. Won't delete any actual books, just database entries.

Ah, that's helpful. Problem seems to be page 1, there are 30 books in that page but we only grab 5 then we hit Traitor, which we think is already in the database, and skip to page 2

Two problems:

  1. is Traitor really in the database or are we mis-detecting it
  2. we shouldn't skip to next page early on a duplicate

In gr.py (and gb.py) there are a couple of "break" statements that need removing which causes the early skip to next page. I have removed these in the latest version.

The bigger problem is thinking Traitor is in the database when it (maybe) isn't bookid is supposed to be unique, much of the code relies on that.

Do you know how to access the sqlite database? If you do, can you run... select * from books where bookid="591822"
to see what other book has the same bookid?

There is a book called Traitor in the DB with that bookid, which is co-authored by Robert Rigby and Andy McNab...

ok, so I think the latest update (removing the break statements) should fix it. Matching works purely on bookid, LL will skip over the new copy of "Traitor" and keep the joint-author one.

After Update, I was able to pull 24 more books, including the book i was trying to import, so all good now. Thanks a ton!

No worries :-)

Just added a bit more code so if you rescan metadata with calibre, the next LL libraryscan or authorscan will notice books have been moved and reset it's links to match. Haven't posted it yet, maybe tonight.
