Soundflower doesn't work at all

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install sound flower
2. set audio in/out to sound flower
3. play sound

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is sound, however nothing comes out

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I've tried 1.5 to 1.6.6, using 10.8.1

Please provide any additional information below.
It worked, once I updated to 10.8.1 it broke the software.

agreed, when using soundflower to pipe output of ventrilo to garageband to 
normalize sound levels all sound disappears.  reverting to 'non-soundflower', 
un-normalized sound works.  Ventrilo's test recording works when soundflower is 
not the output device.  when output changed to soundflower and it's piped to 
garageband, no sound.  Soundflower is therefore broken as of 10.8.1 due to some 
change apple made.
