Closes #125

I'm not familiar with VSCode extension development, but this is what I guess could be implemented at a minimum. I haven't figured out how to test this yet. Some of the documentation or choice of variable names might need improvement.

Closing due to discontinuation/merge into vscode-python. I will consider opening a similar issue there.
