Aside from rainbow/gradient filaments, there is also dual/tri colour coextrusion filaments, sparkle/marble (really, light/dark/colored flecks) filaments, as well as metallic/shiny filament. All of those lack a good way to spot them in a list.
Coextrusion image pinched from CNC Kitchen's blog post/video on the topic, as it nicely shows what the filament looks like up close. Thanks for your work and testing Steven!
Something that the above can cover if done well, is glow in the dark filament, temperature or UV based colour changing filament. textured/additive filled filaments, and iridescent filaments. Of note, I would expect some filaments to combine those things. I've seen at least a few makers of coextrusion silk/metallic filament and a rainbow silk/metallic filament at least.
I personally have a little bit of all that (2 spools of rainbow/gradiants, 7 flecks, 2 dual coextrusions, 2 iridescent, one of a rainbow silk that has gotten somewhere, and probably about 9 silk/metallic. God, do I got a lot of filament.), so it's absence from being able to shown in a nice way does impact me.
I have a few ideas on how to do it, so I might take a stab at the code at some point.
Yes, the ability to add gradients would be great
Love your work, this tool is amazing! As I was putting in some of my filaments, I noticed that there isn't a way to visually represent gradient filaments and rainbow filaments to the database and I'd love to see that added at some point in the future. I'm not good with code, but let me know if there's anything I can do to help!
