It depends how you work with it. For me it's good to have these as part of the filament definition. But a compromise could be, to inherit it from the filament. So the spool inherits the color value from the filament definition and can be overwritten with in the spool properties. This would enable both approaches.
You're the boss, but from my point of view that would indeed cover both use-cases, so having the option to override the color setting would be great!
You're the boss
No, not me... that's @Donkie 😄
I too have recently started using spoolman and have an issue finding colors the way it is implemented right now. If the color alone was exposed as a column of the spool I could sort and find all my blues or whatever. Unless there is some way I havent figured out yet.
Hello,
I just started using Spoolman and it's great! But to my mind it would make more sense to attribute the colour of a filament to the spool instead of to the filament. My assumption is that the print parameters are mainly related to the filament type of a certain manufacturer and only in rare cases to the colour of the filament. So to me it would make more sense to define the parameters of the filament like PLA +, PLA matte, PLA silk with no link to the colour and then be able to define the relevant colour if I put a new spool in my inventory. Just my 2 cents....
