Label that points to a spool in a location Eg: a drybox #90

It would be useful to have a label that could be printed and applied to a drybox and have that link to the spool contained in said drybox. I have a few single spool dryboxes that I frequently have to switch out the spools in.

So basically a label that points to the first item in a search for spools at a specific location?

TechnoGangsta commented 1 year ago

That could work. Or possibly being able to assign a location an ID like the spools and then being able to assign a spool to that location. With some validation to make sure only one spool is assigned to that location at a time.

I would really find use in assigning spools to a location. Having the ability to print a QR code for a location. I have filament in storage bins and shelves and using the location displayed inside Spoolman then filtering/scanning a QR Code to display all filaments in a location would be awesome! I'm loving this so far!

Along with this, and to meet up to a different feature request. I'd love to be able to make a 'location' as a storage location, since I'm personally primarily using Spoolman as an inventory system. Additionally, you might be able to make it so you can't accidentally use those without 'moving' it (scanning into the location or manually setting it in the dashboard) to a location (defining a location as a 'printable' location) that is valid/visible to those firmwares that support using spoolman this way. To go along with TechnoGangsta's request, you can have a checkbox/toggle where a location can be set with the ability to have 'multiple spools' per location (like it is now) or 'only allow one spool in this location' option.

Spools have a location field, so I'm assuming this has been implemented and can be closed?

TechnoGangsta commented 2 months ago

Actually no, because the location field has nothing to do with the way the labels function.

Aha, I hadn't understood that this was about a physical paper label. My bad!
