Error opening terminal: unknown. #8

I've tested building an image before, but trying it again I'm getting the following error in the step that executes make prereq

Error opening terminal: unknown.

In a few steps earlier, I'm also getting the following warnings:

debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Dialog
debconf: (TERM is not set, so the dialog frontend is not usable.)

debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Readline
