Would be much better for things like the cell-based guns.
Cell-based guns could work at different efficiencies. (e.g., one gun is weaker while getting more shots per battery, while another is stronger while using more battery per shot)
If cells can't be merged, that further differentiates energy weapons from conventional ones.
Would allow +1s, while making sense.
Lets the Caesar chaingun behave like it logically should (where the gun itself is the "mag")
Different gameplay if mags can be partial.
<ZikShadow> I'd reckon something like Project IGI could work quite well with Doom.
<ZikShadow> It's not like IGI2 where it goes full tactical, IGI1 has you carrying a whole arsenal at your back, but you're still pretty fragile and if you don't use your wits as well as your guns, you can still be gunned down by the first goon you see.
<ZikShadow> It doesn't have mag management, but healing takes a while 'cause you have a syringe weapon that you have to hold down to heal. Combat is fast paced but absolutely brutal with every hit you take.

<ZikShadow> You always have a binoculars, so even if you don't have sniper rifles, you can see far away ranges and decide accordingly.
<ZikShadow> Stealth options as well like with the MP5SD (or the Glock in IGI2).
<ZikShadow> It's the example I can immediately think of when people ask for tactical games that don't go the whole way.

<ZikShadow> As for mag management, you could take a page out of FireArms!
<ZikShadow> Magazines in that mod are counted and separated, but you can merge them in a push of a button and it only takes a few seconds.

<ZikShadow> I think Lost Frontier also has something like this.
<ZikShadow> Separated magazines, but merging the lot is real fast and easy.
<ZikShadow> So there's still time taken and thought into managing your mags, but not HDest like where it can take a while.
