The Greek text uses an alternate spelling of Beelzebul at MAT 10:25; 12:24; 12:27; MRK 3:22; LUK 11:15, 18, and 19.
In these cases to make them Beelzebub would require as much trouble as leaving them and then having a note because the various versions deal with this problem in different ways. It is easier just to permit the variation, with the purpose of following the spelling of the GRK text.
Thanks,
Tom
The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and, "By the ruler of the demons he drives out demons."
Should Beelzebul be Beelzebub?
