What is the issue exactly, how can you not craft it? what version is this?

In the image it's asking to use the Netherrite compass to craft the Netherrite compass. This is fabric - 0.16.5 version 1.21.1

This should not be the case, the recipe looks good to me here. Try the recipe in the smithing table with the recovery compass. What is that mod? Maybe it just displays the recipe wrong?

Maybe JEI is displaying the wrong crafting recipe for the Netherrite Compass. The two could just not be compatible
