Description

  1. I launched VSC and created a new java maven application.
  2. I created the folder structure from a previous eclipse project in an attempt to maintain continuity.
  3. Once the folder structure was created I was then able to copy files from a different directory into the newly created project/work space.
  4. Once the files were into the work space it presented me with various errors of which I had spent several hours to work on to fix them.
  5. Once the errors were fixed I was able to run the application from which generated compiler errors.
  6. I was working on this application code from within a 64gb flash drive so that I can easily work on the application on another computer. From which the files on that flash drive when completely missing.

This is the second time an application has completely wiped out my source code. I am wondering if their is a recovery option cause I have tried other options that were listed on google to no avail. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: this situation doesn't apply in this case.

I originally sent this type of information to VS Code and they believe it might be an extension so I am extending a question out to you and your extension group to see if it might be possible.
