Hi Josh. Thanks for all the hard work.
I'm not sure how much I could contibute (read: I have a kid, too. And a house :-) ) But I'd be willing to help.
@nils-a - Thanks! I'll be in touch once I get this migrated to an org.
Hi, everyone!
I just wanted to take a moment to explain the current state of this project and my intentions for future maintenance.
From my personal life (read: kids are crazy, man) to my "day job", I have not had the time to dedicate to this project and that lack of attention has caused things to stagnate quite a bit. As a consumer of open-source tools myself, I know it can be frustrating when it appears a project has been abandoned. I'm sure many of you have found alternatives to this extension by this point and that's great! But I also would like to begin dedicating some time to cleaning things up here and at the very least facilitating collaboration with anyone interested in contributing moving forward.
Here is what to expect:
I will be spending some time combing through the issues to perform triaging. Some issues may be closed and others may be addressed immediately. I will do my best to consider all feature requests, but at least for now, my focus is on reaching a somewhat consistent release cadence once again.
Once issues have been triaged, I will work on getting a "catch-up" release out the door.
Following that catch-up release, I will turn my focus to developer documentation to ensure it is as easy as possible to contribute to the project moving forward.
Finally, I will be moving this project to an organization. If you are interested in helping out as a member of this organization when I get to that point, please comment here or reach out on gitter. I would be happy to allow a few others to do things like review and merge PRs and triage issues to keep things moving when I'm unable to jump in.
Thank you to those of you who continue to submit issues despite the lack of activity here and also to those of you who have reached out to say hey! I never intended for this thing to be used by more than a handful of my colleagues, so it is pretty cool to hear the different scenarios in which you are using XML Tools.
Thanks!
Josh Johnson
