We'll want some sounds for our out of game UI:

And some in-game sounds:

I have a 'select' and a 'hover' sound effect... https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B63UD2JXMGk-VExJYl8ySzV5cVk&usp=sharing

Fork the repo here to your own github account, clone that down to your local computer, then push it back up to your forked repo (it sounds convoluted, but it's actually a neat way to work things). Once that's done, open a pull request.

Or upload it somewhere and put a link here in a comment :D

Okay I put a link in the comment... feel free to discard the audio if you get something better :)

Alrighty. To meet the licence terms here, we also have to provide a link to the licence that the source has been provided under: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

These are great though. Nice and gofly :D

I'll do the "Lead Position Taken/Stolen Sounds" but, like Mario Kart, I think the latter should be character specific. Is there a set roster of characters?

Also, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "Score Increase". Is this a positive sound? And when is it triggered (when the ball goes in the cup, after the ball stops rolling, etc)

Is there a set roster of characters?

Nope. It's probably best to consider what we have to be placeholder for the moment as well. A generic sound to use in the meantime is probably most helpful at this poiint.

So far as score goes, Patrick's design notes talk about having a point system separate from the golf stroke tally, where bonus points are awarded for finishing early, and perhaps penalties for destroyed carts/bonuses for causing damage.

I envision that we'll want a sound that can be repeated as bonus points and golf under/over par point values are tallied up at the end of a hole/course (with the possibility of being played during cart collisions as well?)

To keep the focus on finishing the hole [and not a demolition derby], points are awarded for finishing first and getting a good score on the hole. Players can augment this score by doing damage to other carts while keeping their cart from being destroyed. Balancing this score will take some playtesting but shouldn’t be difficult.

For the bonus points, something like this?

Thanks! I'll pop that in the assets repo.

For additional inspiration if you want to try some other variants, some of the other UI sounds are looking at using golfy sounding sounds (such as a club swoosh for selecting menu items). @jasondesante and @studiokraze have both recorded some stuff that we can play with/nominate for use in these contexts as well as in-game (although they may need work to keep them readable if they have overlapping in-game uses)
