Hello. First time I hear of something like that. What seems weird to me is that a database write error would absolutely trigger an error message of some sort being shown to the user.

Quick questions:

Now can you check the following:

Good day! 1.)Yes, I updated my windows 7 pc last night.. 2.)It is located on my Users Folder... (Happened again*) What I did to fix that was to erase the houhou folder completely and reinstalled it again.. Its probably a problem on the database .. Thanks for the reply though(Answered because it might help others who had the same issues as me).

Quick questions:

  • What is your operating system? Did you recently update Windows?
  • Where is your user directory located? (if you don't know, start Houhou, go to the settings tab, and it's on the bottom of the "Application" category page)

Now can you check the following:

  • Make sure Houhou is not running (make sure it's not still running in the tray).
  • Go to your user directory and check the "Date modified" of your "SrsDatabase.sqlite" file in there.
  • Launch Houhou and add some word or kanji to your SRS list.
  • Close Houhou (again, make sure it's not still running in the tray).
  • In your user directory, did the "Date modified" for "SrsDatabase.sqlite" change? Or did it stay the same?

I dont know why but after shutting down my pc, the issue started to persist again.. Checked the houhou folder nd found out that the SrsDatabase.sqlite didnt got modified.. The last time it was modified was around 7PM when I reinstalled it again..

Can you check if the file is in read-only mode? (right click the file, select properties and you should see a checkbox for that). Again, in any case, I find it really weird that you see no error on your end, even though the file cannot be written. The timing of your last Windows Update isn't very reassuring either...

May I see your log file? It should be located in "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Houhou SRS\Logs". Please bear in mind that it may contain some (superficial) personal information like your user directory path, possibly the installation path, some settings if you changed them, and the likes. You can send it by mail if you'd like. There is a contact button on the home page of the application that should open an email.

Good day! Actually, I thought my pc updated but it failed.. After seeing that it failed, I ran a system check to see if there were any corrupt files (because I looked it up and its probably one of the reason why its not working).. Finished the scan and there were no corrupt system files... The database file is not on reading mode too.. Lastly, I dont know why but I couldn't find the log.. When I checked my user folder, I clicked the Houhou folder but all I saw was the radicals, kanji, and the database file.. I found a file that has the name log on it but its on ky program files and is modified on 2013-ish.. If that's what you need, then I can send it.. The only problem is that I deleted it several times but I dont know if there will be a problem on that.. Sorry that the reply might be dealyed a bit because were starting our online class soon.. Thanks!

You are not looking in the right place. Did you check that path: "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Houhou SRS\Logs" AppData is a hidden directory so you will either have to change your Windows settings to show hidden files and directories, or type it in the address bar in Windows Explorer.
