Did the refactor for query.py. There is a drawback in the PR I created.

Randy and I did the setup for the VM in OpenStack earlier. But we were cut short because of the internet problems. The internet gets disconnected or is very slow when I'm on the VPN. We're still currently working on a fix through gmail.

worked on a Saturday because I wasn't able to work last Tuesday
