If you press A at image1 when smoke is coming out from the take-off, it
continues with subsequent cutscene until image2 where you see the boss
portrait. You can't see clearly in the screenshot (only color blotches) - play
it to see it.

There is moving smoke (blending) in the black bg. If you do not interrupt the
take-off cutscene at image1 and let it continues to the boss portrait, there is
no moving smoke in the black bg. Tested with latest glide64 plugin and
previous ones too.

Using 1964Video or Jabo video plugin, there is no moving smoke in the black bg
for the above scenarios (image3).

Is it a blending issue or some residual carried over?

I never played this game.
How to get to this place?
There should be no smoke on boss portrait, right?

Simple steps:
1. Start the game and press A to skip initial cutscene to reach menu
2. Choose "Main Game"
3. Press A to choose "F14B"
4. The aircraft has a take-off scene (image1 in my previous comment)
5. Press A when smoke starts coming out of aircraft to skip this scene
6. The next cutscene starts and within 2-3 seconds, you will see snap0001,
press A
7. You will see snap0002, press A and you see image2/3 (in my previous comment)

Tested latest official glide64 on Mupen64.

No smoke in black bg - see hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0H3t60a8mQ

If I set "clip_zmin = 1", the residual smoke from previous frame is no longer
visible.
