Merged updates from 1.19 updates into the 1.20.1 branch.

Includes sub-species compatibility changes.

Tested in single-player and multi-player at a basic level; treat as alpha.

  2. Your PR is missing the subspecies compatibility, but we can see about getting it merged in so I can pull your changes before pushing mine, if you'd rather.
