In addition to the above, the Chitubox version of base.stl
(did not check others) has extraneous geometry partway up the base part, that is not visible to the surface. at 0.05mm layer height, this occurs for just 8 layers, but it causes Lychee to try to add supports...
This probably exists because on the one corner (shown to the right of the second image) is not fully closed...
returning to this in april 2022, Lychee can now repair all of the unsupported copies of the files. The base still has the odd hole in it.
Lychee reports that all files - supported and unsupported versions - have holes in them, none of which are fully repairable with the auto-repair tool, though Lychee's Azure 3D Tools Cloud repair seems to be able to repair them, as presumably can Fusion 360's repair tools
Meshmixer and Photon Workshop cannot even open the unsupported version of
base.stl
, though Lychee, PrusaSlicer and Fusion 360 can. Did not try in Chitubox.I would also point out that the unsupported version of
base.stl
is a whopping 322 megabytes, while the supported version is only about 6 megs. If one opens the Chitu version, removes the supports, and exports the base as STL, it comes in at about 7.3 megs. See additional issue with the base, below.
