Unable to use special attacks on other players

Is this configurable? The Katana's slash attacks and the Waraxe's smashing ability only work on mobs and not players and passive animals, I was wondering if this was a bug or if it's something I need to change anywhere?

👍 Katana/Waraxe will work on anything except your tamed mobs in the next release
