Boomerangs have had this issue for a long time now and I saw the closed issue for this issue from a while back saying it's fixed. It is not fixed. This can be replicated by obtaining any boomerang and using it on entities until it reaches zero durability. Continued use will result in the boomerang getting negative durability and still never breaking. (I am using the latest 1.18 version)
