Only Signs on in demo Mode

Got a new unit. It only signs in as a demo even though I have the USB3 cable connected. What do I do next?

The version number is V1.3.2

It was a download about 3 weeks old.

The device shows up in the device manager. See the attached picture

The units LED is red not green BTW.

@monahanz Can you provide the log for us? At the boolbar menu: Help->Log Options. Setting as: Log level 3, Save to file. Then restart DSView, and connect the device.

@monahanz Have you installed any special drivers? From the log, it appears that the USB device list obtained by DSView is empty.

@monahanz I am not referring to device drivers, but to some third-party drivers or software, such as serial port conversion software.

First there are no extra/special serial devices connected. Attached are the screen shots you suggested.

BTW I uninstalled the DSView program from this computer (Windows10) and reinstalled it. Still comes up in demo mode.

I installed it on a laptop here (Windows11) it came up in working mode but said it was a USB 2 connection. It’s in fact a USB 3 connection!

Running it on a laptop is not practical for me.

@monahanz If the device is USB 3.0, but your USB port is 2.0, then the connection is 2.0. The reverse is the same．

Information on my issue I am on Win10, DSView v1.3.2, DSLogic plus. Driver setup for the device in device manager is identical to what is shown here. In Zadig the driver for the device is WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385).

When I start up DSView and then plug in the device I get this output to the logs:

sr: hwdriver: ds_scan_all_device_list: Failed to call libusb_get_device_list(), it returns a null list.
sr: lib_main: Not found attached device.
sr: lib_main: hotplug_event_listen_callback(), the device handle is null.

And the status LED on the device remains red.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling DSView and there was no change in behaviour.

I dual booted into Ubuntu, build DSView from source and everything works as expected so it is not a hardware issue.

Edit: After a bit of playing around, uninstalling device, restarting, reinstalling DSView etc.

If I restart the computer then the first time I start DSView then if the device is plugged in or hot plugged after starting the program then everything works as expected. If I unplug and re-plug the device it is consistently detected and the program works correctly. However the issue above is still persistent, if I leave the device plugged in and detected in DSView then restarting DSView will sometimes continue to work with the DSPlus device detected and available in the software. However; un-plugging the DSPlus device and then closing/re-opening DSView consistently means that I can no longer get the device detected, and I am back in the state described above with the only way to recover being a full restart of the system. Restarting the DSView program has no effect, replugging the hardware makes no difference, hot-plugging doesn't help, etc. Again, the only way I've found to recover from this state is a full reset.
