Error: expected an order id to be passed #2

Since reinstalling the Paypal extension for Opencart i'm faced with this error in the browser console when I try to complete a checkout journey. I hit the paypal button and the popup appears, I see the loading spinner for a second, and then the window closes again. IN the console of the browser I see this:

Click_initiate_payment_reject {err: 'Error: Expected an order id to be passed\n

Any forum threads i've seen suggest reinstalling the plugin which I've done several times. I'm running version 1.5.0 of the plugin on opencart 3.0.3.3.

Did anyone else have this issue and find a solution? Thanks in advance!
