It'll be in its own repository separate from either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of the current app launcher. I think I'm going to release alpha/snapshot/beta versions as I work up to the features/UI of version 2.8, then when I put in the new features of version 3.0, I'll release it as stable if it's ready. I'm thinking about something like 0.x for the development snapshot releases then eventually get to 1.x; the app launcher will say that it's the 3.x version of Drew's App Launcher. If that doesn't work, I'll just start the versioning of 3.x development at version 2.100 (or 2.999) and let people know that it's unstable; that way the rewritten version can still be 3.x without doing something like, 0.1-0.9 then jumping to 3.0 even though it's just the first stable version but really it's been worked on in a different project (?).
I'll use quite a bit of code from the current version when I get started rewriting the app launcher. I'll start on it after version 2.x is done, meaning that after I release the last 2.x version I'll rewrite the launcher. I have a lot of useless files I don't need in the Solution Explorer and I'd rather just start fresh to ensure nothing gets messed up.
