Sometimes EPKL stopped working [w/ MS Teams] #10

Sometimes EPKL stopped working. For example if I switch from Sublime Text to Microsoft Teams my keyboard goes back to normal layout used by Windows. If I quit EPKL then I relaunch it's working again. Any idea ?

I have the same behaviour with original PKL application.

I'm on Windows 10 1803.

I don't know of this problem. In which other applications besides Microsoft Teams does it happen? Does it always happen if you switch programs exactly as you described? Does the program quit, or is there still an EPKL icon in the system tray?

There are hotkeys for suspending/quitting EPKL. Would changing or disabling those have an effect on the problem?

I'm not100% sure but I think it's only happen why I switch to Teams and start typing. It's a little bit weird because it's not all the time. EPKL is still working and still in system tray. It also works again if I switch to another layout via the application menu.

I've not tried the hotkeys yet.

I may install Teams later on and give it a try. Have you tried the Ctrl+Shift+5 hotkey when it stops, to see if you can still refresh EPKL that way? If not, does refreshing by menu work?

I've noticed something similar on my work PC. Occasionally, the layout will switch to something completely different (not any of the layouts I have defined in my override -- this appears to be some strange layout I'm not familiar with). I noticed it while using Teams as well, but I can't be sure if it's related to this issue. I can't seem to reproduce the problem at will, so I'll attempt to grab as much information as possible next time it happens, and if it seems like a different issue, I'll open a different one.

It turns out my issue was actually that Windows was switching to the Dvorak layout when I switched to Teams (and some other apps). I turned off the Dvorak layout and it was resolved. I'm not sure if that's what's happening with your issue as well, but I thought I'd follow up just in case.

Thanks for the followup! That's useful knowledge in case anyone gets into a similar situation. ( のvの) c[_]

I seem to remember that Windows can remember what's the default layout for programs. I don't remember how to reset that though.

I would be in favor of keeping this ticket open in case the original poster can provide additional feedback. My issue which I resolved may be completely unrelated.
