Droidplanner Waypoint Transitions too Abrupt #760

Closed CoastInternet closed 10 years ago

CoastInternet commented 10 years ago

Using Droidplanner I've plotted and flown several missions on the 3DR IRIS with Pixhawk and noticed the transitions from waypoints are sudden and abrupt?

I'm curious, is there was a way to increase the radius of the waypoints (rounding the corners on a square).

I looked into DroidPlanner and Mission Planner but can't find anything in the configurations that will allow me to make the waypoint transitions smoother.

Hello @CoastInternet I understand your problem, but this isnt the right place to post it since it is related to the ArduCopter software not the ground station. Thats why I`m closing it.

If you find a solution and want us to implement it on DroidPlanner please re-open the issue.

Hi Arthur, mission planner has a text box to enter the waypoint radius, as far as I can tell this is not available in Droidplanner. Maybe this is what he was referring to.

But does the waypoint radius do anything with the copter?

Yes, On the flights I have done, when the copter reaches this radius, it starts to yaw. So when I make a mission plan with Mission planner, that defines it to 15 or so meters by default it will yaw the copter 15 or so meters before actually reaching the waypoint to point to the next and will therefore round the corners a bit. And when I use Droidplanner, it will get to the waypoint and then turn. (I like droidplanner better, so in mission planner I set the radius to 1-2m) But I can see why someone may want to increase the radius.

@Jaime can you post a mission with those parameters? (screenshot or copy and paste the mission file)

Its not written as part of the mission file. I think it modifies the parameter on the copter directly when you change it (WP_RADIUS), I am at AUVSI for the rest of the week so I don’t have my copter around, I will look through the logs I have to see If I can find one I made with mission planner, and one with droidplanner
