Select an arbitrary talk topic, and create three potential openings for it:

I like where this is going. Let's hammer on it a bit.

If we say there is an Emotional Opening Kata, would it be useful to articulate other kinds of openings that could be used?

Other kinds of openings... I'm trying to think of the ones that I've used or seen that I really like.

I guess "shock and awe" is probably one. Maybe "The Joke". Some people do that really well (I don't).

One opening that I see a lot (and dislike just as much every time) is "The Autobiography". Like... either I don't know who you are and I don't care, or I know who you are and I don't care, or I know who you are and I already know your life story... and don't care.

I guess all the openings that I like are emotional in some way, and so the kata might be about various ways of getting that emotional hook or connection.
