Hi, the PCB is sadly not compatible with older cases, because the switches won't hold the PCB in place, being removable and all. This is in fact what has made a launch a bit harder, as Mike from Novelkeys and I both agree these PCBs have to be available with a case. The only other cases I have out there currently, are 3D printed (or if you want to go fancy, CNC machined) where the PCB is supported on the bottom and a separate plate is cut and stuck on top.
I definitely have learned a few things about case compatibility, so in the future I think going from PCB in hand to PCB in case will be much faster :)
Hi,
Thanks for the quick response! Yeah, I can definitely see the problem that if the Kaih sockets can't hold the switches firm enough, the PCB and the case / switches will separate as people slam on the keys.
This issue shouldn't affect plate compatibility though, right?
It's a bit unfortunate that removable switches introduces complication to the launch, but I think a lot of us are excited about the hotswap design and waiting for it to happen, and it sounds like a solid case that has bed support for the PCB would be attractive even for non-hotswap Let's Split users :)
Will the pcb and case be sold through novelkeys?
@dmgm Yep they will :) @xkxx It shouldn't interfere with plates no :)
Greetings,
Can say that I'm anxiously waiting for vitamins to go on sale on novelkeys :)
I'm wondering if these will be compatible with existing Let's Split cases?
Comparing the pcb with OG Let's Split and Levinson, it looks like the main difference is in the obtruding front of the pcb where trrs and usb are located:
Have you looked into case compatibility with these?
Thanks,
xkxx
