As an instructor I need some people to wear multiple hats

In toolkits 1.0, it is possible for a user to be in more than one role at a time. This handles situations where in a given community someone wears more than one hat. For instance, an instructor may wish to add a guest lecturer to the community as a visitor so they can see the course materials, then give the guest lecturer TA rights

In toolkits 1.0, the toolkits roles include:

• Instructor
• Manager
• TA
• Developer
• Mentor
• Student
• Auditor
• Visitor
• Admin
• Contributor

@mccahill are you saying they have multiple roles in toolkits or the tools connected to the toolkit? Most tools don't understand multiple roles in the context of a course. Would you elaborate on an example?
