Hey there, I'm not the maintainer but just so happened to have the exact same issue. This is all on MoonDeck's side afaik. For me I had to increase the buddyRequests timeout from 5 to 15 (MoonDeck > Settings > Runner Settings).
I personally use this combination alongside DeckLight.
Fingers crossed you have the same problem as I had.
Hey StijnWolf, appreciate helping out! I did what you did but looks like on my end the steam (and steam big picture) is not starting when I use MoonDeck with DuoStream.

I see, I don't think the logs show anything of importance. The stream seems to start fine, so this probably isn't really a Duo issue but moreso MoonDeck. Are you running moondeckbuddy on the same user as your Duo instance?
For me 'it just works' after I installed MoonDeckBuddy for ONLY the Duo instance with which I use my SteamDeck exclusively. I started out with installing MoonDeckBuddy on my main user account and then using regular Sunshine to test MoonDeck, which seemed to work fine. After that all I did was uninstall MoonDeckBuddy and reinstalled it for the SteamDeck Duo instance windows user. I can't recall if I had to pair MoonDeck with my Steam Deck again, but I think I had to.
Could you give more context of your setup? How many duo instances are you running? Where is MoonDeckBuddy installed?
I am just trying to reinstall stuff.. Yeah so I started with regular Sunshine setup, then added Moondeck which was fine. I only have 1 "local account" for my Windows 10 LTSC, which I also had to set a password for DuoStream to work. Anyway, I paired DuoStream instance (I only have 1 instance) with Moonlight and after that to Moondeck buddy
I just found out synching sunshine apps in Moondeck always gives me apps from regular Sunshine, not DuoStream.. I will try to forget the host, maybe even reinstall moondeck
Sounds like you might've installed MoonDeckBuddy for the wrong user?
Check your install path and uninstall and reinstall MoonDeckBuddy accordingly if necessary. I have MoonDeckBuddy installed under a local Windows account named 'steamdeck', so the install path for me is: C:\Users\steamdeck\AppData\Local\Programs\MoonDeckBuddy
Try editing my path with your Windows users, that way you'll know which user has MoonDeckBuddy installed.
I have it only for my one account "xForcer". Are you saying I should create another account just for this scenario?
I just tried it with my normal windows user to emulate your setup. I'm running Windows 11 and use a Microsoft account as my main user. Normally I'm using a separate local user account named 'steamdeck'.
You need to make sure MoonDeckBuddy is running inside the virtual session. Check for which user the MoonDeckBuddy icon is visible in the taskbar. It should be visible within the taskbar on your SteamDeck's Moonlight session.
Presumably this is annoying because you want MoonDeckBuddy to run at startup, but then it starts for the wrong Windows session. I've yet to try rebooting but I think you'll need to create a separate scheduled task to handle starting MoonDeckBuddy automatically for the right Windows session.
So I am using DuoStream patreon version but it doesn't seem to work with Moondeck on the Steamdeck. I tried to use it normally like I do with Sunshine but the screen freezes when it has connected and then after some time timeout for Moondeck triggers.. I will get you the logs later today, if there are any.
Did you try to use the same combination and do you know more about this issue?
