Fix log filename for steps #82

The log filename was getting set to None when there is already a log file, whereas we want it to contain the name of that existing log file.

Testing

I ran the QU240 and Icos240 parts of the cosine bell test case with this branch and the progress bars that had been showing up are now gone.
