Allowing the logs directory to be configurable #3

Hi, We'd like to make the log directory configurable so we can separate it out from the data directory.

Let me know if anything needs tweaking.

I'll take a look at this in a few hours. Looks like the Travis process failed because of a conflict, not because your tests don't pass. This looks like a good revision.
