MPlayer locks up when trying to play DVDs #180

I used the dvdx34 installer (I have system menu 3.4) to install DVDx on my
Wii (which has no mods besides the install of the Homebrew Channel) so I
can watch DVDs using MPlayer.

However, when I try to play DVDs, the DVD drive spins up, spins down, then
MPlayer locks up and ultimately returns to the Homebrew Channel.

do you have a modchip?

It doesn't have a modchip installed.

did you do normal dvdx install? what about previous versions of mplayer_ce, 
like 0.3 
did they work?

I used the normal DVDx install. I tried version 0.3, and that worked, albeit the
video was a bit choppy.
