Frame skip/drop when playing avi from SMB or DVD, ok with SD or USB

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. browse to smb share and play avi file (xvid)
2. browse to data dvd and play avi file (xvid)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- many frames are dropped/skipped when playing these files.  Many video 
files have been tested.  I did not try any other movie type.  Sometimes 
video and sound is out of sync.
- plays without skipping when played from SD card or USB drive.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- Mplayer CE 0.5
- Wii Menu 4.0 (did the same thing with 3.4)

Please provide any additional information below.

I have some rmvb videos that mplayer-ce doesn't play very smoothly with SD. 
(slightly
jumpy) If accessing the same file through SMB, I can easily tell that it gets 
worth.
Is there any setting can be tuned to improve SMB performance?

This has been fixed with the latest version.  Videos from SMB are streaming 
normally.
