[Poll] Music #152

I think that Stunt Rally should really need some background music. Currently
car sounds are too repeating therefore become annoying.

A good source of freely usable Creative Commons music is jamendo.com. I think
that the most fitting music would be fast, happy and light rock or electronic
music.

I would be cool if users had the chance to put their own music on the
background. There could be a folder where all the music was. You could pick
some default songs. However I think that these could be released in a optional
package because the game itself is already quite large.

Also in the game there should be a notification when a new song starts which
told the artist and song title.

Yeah. I really don't understand the issue, honestly. You can try to convince me
otherwise but:
For me a game is not a movie with soundtrack - it's a game, it's in no way
about music whatsoever.
Personally first thing that I do in any game is quickly find music volume and
turn it off, so I can hear my music player as before.
The 2nd reason is: I really don't see why we should add 50MB of music ogg files
and make an audio player in (out of) the game. And probably over half of that
will go wasted since many people won't like most of the music selection.
Car sounds are bad, but this a reason to create/find better ones. I don't
wouln't try to cover them with music.

But if you want, then let's vote. All who want music in game post yes.
If you do, try to add your best playlist from jamendo too. Then we can select
something from it to fit in the game.

I really agree with you. But at least for me playing a game without any
background music is quite boring. You're right that players can use their own
music player in the background but I think that most of the people are
expecting some kind of music. For example I've never seen a commercial racing
game without music (I don't mean that you should copy commercial games in any
way). Also controlling some music player while in-game can be hard and it's
music might not match with the game. Of course everyone has their own musical
taste.

As I already proposed that there should be a optional package with preselected
songs which matched the game's atmosphere. You could offer it for the player
but it must be optional.

I think that there should be music but in the end it's all up to you. And I
would like to hear opinions from other people too.

Personally I don't need music in SR, but then again I just loved the music in
Flat Out 2. I am definitely not so strongly against as cryham, but I think the
songs would need to be really good.

I think music would be nice to have (if there's a big button to mute it), then
again I don't think its high priority. But if you have found some music that
fits, feel free to present them here.

music is the most entertaining aspect to the user ears while entertaining the
rest of their senses by engaging, interacting and seeing the visuals of the
game .the important thing is the music should not interfere with the game play
(not too low or too loud and not actual songs with people singing as it can
distract) unless the user picks his own song
