Create HW answer keys

@julietcohen and @avidalmeza would you mind creating answer keys for the homework assignments (so far just HW1 and HW2)?

@julietcohen maybe you can get things started since you already have code for the Easter Island map for HW1?

In previous years, I've created a private repository for answer keys. I added you both to the repo from last year, in case it's helpful. Some of the assignments have been updated from last year, and overall the structure is different (in previous years students had a template Rmd) to work from. This year, they are being asked to complete a set of tasks and package it an a professional-looking qmd.

I started a new private repository within the EDS-223-Geospatial org (EDS223-HW-Answer-Keys) to put answer keys for the updated/revised HW assignments.

I pushed a draft structure for the answer key repo and the answer key qmd for the Easter Island portion of the assignment. Feel free to change the repo folder structure.

My to do items for HW1 answer key:

• [x] add more code comments
• [x] add brief map interpretation ("seamounts align well with bathymetry data considering that the points fall on top of regions of the sea floor that are more shallow")
• [x] add data citations
• [x] consider adding a north arrow or grid lines

Great to hear! I finished and rendered the answer key for part 1 of HW1. Please let me know if you'd like me to also make the answer key for part 2, and the key for HW2.

Do we want the homework assignment repos for the students to clone have eval: false in the header of the qmd doc they will be working in for their assignment submission? It's the case with both HW1 and HW2

Note: I have yet to finish the answer key for HW 2. Taking a break from course work to focus on research tasks but will finish the key.

sounds good! HW2 isn't due until 10/19, so might be helpful to have the answer key by 10/16 for answering questions etc., but no rush
