CODEX problems #434

Open L4CK08U8L1K opened 3 years ago

Here are codex issues (EDSM Codex) I encountered so far [last update 25.04.2021]:

1. Luteolum Anemone in system HIP 38523 is reported in Sanguineous Rim, but the system is actually in Inner Orion Spur (it's very close to the borders). Beside the wrong region you get confirmed status, so not a big problem.

2. Again in Sanguineous Rim (maybe in other regions too, I haven't visited them yet), there is in EDSM codex Terraformable WW, I visited few of them (not the one that is reported in codex), but I cannot get confirmed status.

If you look at the codex screen in the game while in HIP 38523, you will probably find that it is confused as to whether it is in Sanguineous Rim or Orion Spur. The journal CodexEvent is similarly confused, as it does not take into account the coordinates of the system, only its procedurally generated cube. This has been reported to Frontier: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/13286 (which has expired due to nobody confirming it - probably due to it being a literal edge case, and being "not a big problem")

Again in Sanguineous Rim (maybe in other regions too, I haven't visited them yet), there is in EDSM codex Terraformable WW, I visited few of them (not the one that is reported in codex), but I cannot get confirmed status.

You were probably bitten by the same bug in the game when visiting a system near a region boundary, and having the discovery assigned in the journal to the region on the other side of that boundary.

Ok I found more terraformable WW that are unarguably inside the Sanguineous Rim, I have even confirmed status in in-game CODEX, but still cannot get one in EDSM codex. I always run with EDDiscovery on, additionaly I even imported journals. Didn't help. Here are at least 2 systems with terraformable WW: Oochoxt FG-V d3-2 Slegeae ES-J c25-0

EDSM uses the CodexEntry journal event, which is recorded when you are awarded with a codex discovery - for astronomical bodies this is the first time you discover a body of a particular type in a region.

If you look in your in-game codex, where is your confirmation of a terraformable water world in Sanguineous Rim?

If you look in the journal file for the session that discovery occurred in, are you able to find the CodexEntry event associated with this discovery?

If you submit that file to EDSM using the journal import https://www.edsm.net/en/settings/import/journal, does it recognise that discovery?

okay so I see now what is the problem. I discovered terraformable WW in game way before I started using EDSM, that means that I probably deleted old logs and therefore I cannot now confirm it in EDSM Codes for this region.
