Privacy Badger conflicts with JSmol sites #692

complutense commented 8 years ago

Having Privacy Badger enabled in Firefox 42 prevents the JSmol viewer [1,2,3] from being inserted in a page. Disabling the extension immediately cures the problem (on page reload, no need to quit the browser)

Many people are developing sites that use JSmol for visualization of molecular structures, so this will be a major drawback for them using PB --provided they find out it is the cause.

Test page: http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/jsmol/jsmol.htm after a while, a molecular model should display on the left. (This is not he only page that gets broken)

JSmol uses own code as well a jQuery code.

Not seeing any difference between having PrivacyBadger on or off, for the test page above. How long is "after a while"?

about 3 seconds in my tests right now, without PrivacyBadger. A spinner animated image is displayed meanwhile the model is loaded. After installing PrivacyBadger, the spinner stays forever, the model never gets loaded. Firefox 50.0.2, Win7

I then disabled the extension, reloaded the page, the model comes in alright.
