These commits fixes issue #1 (script tested on SLC6 and CentOS7)

I've verified the changes on a centos7 docker image. Looks good, merging. @gwarf I propose we update the Authors file (which, of course, is non-existent at the moment) to include @vokac

@vokac If you agree, we'll ask for a new PR from you to update the file when we add it, to include your personal details.
