User feedback from Petra: compound issue #420

Lots of feedback, shoving under one issue for now.

  1. Why is the 'creator' not part of the description, but as a related item? Information on the creator is part of the archival description (see also ISAD) and I don't think it should be displayed as something that is just 'related' Fixed #417.
  2. The labels in the list of item types are not the same as in the navigation Authorities: is this Historical agents? Countries: is this country reports? Collections: is this archival descriptions? Repositories Created issue #447
  3. I tried to upload a picture, but received the message 'Permission Denied' Fixed via manual intervention.
  4. I would expect to find here a place where I could make all my activities public (or not public). My list now says: 'no activity yet' and I was looking for the place where I could make my activities visible
  5. Just an idea, would 'Privacy' be a better label for what's now called 'Preferences'? The plan was to add other preferences under this section too so (not just privacy-related) so I think I'll leave it as-is for now. However, if we add more privacy-related features a privacy section would be a good idea.
  6. What are 'other related items'?
  7. If I click on the icon 'key tool' next to 'feedback' I see that I can put on and off 'Show user generated comments and links'. Does that concern the user generated contact create by myself or others?
  8. When adding a note I'm asked to 'allow promotion' , it's not clear to me what that means Added a tooltip.
  9. What is the difference between 'activity' and 'notes'?
  10. I starred some two items but they are not displayed in this list
  11. I miss contextual information conserning for instance how it is developed and by whom and disclaimers. This is being addressed in #387 and #388.
  12. I would have expect the introduction on the country report on this website (and not linked to the project website)
  13. I asked myself the question a couple of times what the relationship is between the portal and the EHRI project website. There is information here which I would have had expected only on the project website (for instance the latest news) and visa versa: for instance for the introduction to the country reports you are linked to the project website
  14. The external link opens in the same window. Maybe opening external links in a new window/tab would keep the researchers on the EHRI site? I tested this one: Zentrale Datenbank Nachlässe (http://www.nachlassdatenbank.de/) includes database of archives. Created issue #419
  15. I would expect somewhere an explanation on: - What is meant by 'historical agents' ? - What is the scope of this list? - How does the category 'Authority Type' relate to 'Authority Set'?
  16. Why is the 'creator' presented as a 'related' item and not as part of the metadata? It is confusion especially when the creator & the related person are the same. Created issue #417

@mikesname Ok, I had a look at both and also at #387 and #388, but how can I see what has changed? Also, is there a possiblity how I can see on which item this feedback was? Is there a 'history overview' for registered users where they can see which feedback they have provided? Or is that a step too far maybe?

@petralinks Sorry for the confusion, I'm working on this with Linda et al, not ready yet.

I've done a fix for number 1 (hopefully) - would appreciate it if you could see if it meets your expectations, example: https://portal.ehri-project.eu/units/pl-003092-522.

Jep, looks good! One questions: How is it possible that some archives have more then one creator. Or is that a something that's caused by the data entry and not at the data structure side? https://portal.ehri-project.eu/units/il-002798-o-60

@petralinks : this is possible in the data entry (creator is technically just an access point, like subjects, places etc.) However that example you point to is clearly just wrong...

Ah, ok. But I like the creator being represented on top now :)
