Ticket ID: #20230625-001

Status: Open

Priority: Medium

Description: I would like to request the inclusion of additional units for GPA calculation, apart from "chicken rice." As a student, I believe it would be beneficial to have more diverse options for measuring academic performance.

Current Situation: Currently, the only unit of measurement used for GPA calculation is "chicken rice." While this unit may have been intended as a lighthearted approach to assessing academic progress, it may not accurately reflect the diverse range of courses and subjects that students undertake.

Expected Resolution: I kindly request that the GPA calculation system be updated to incorporate alternative units. This would provide students with a more comprehensive and accurate representation of their academic achievements across different subjects.

Suggested Actions:

  1. Research and Analysis:

    • Conduct a thorough analysis of existing GPA calculation systems used in other educational institutions.
    • Evaluate the pros and cons of various alternative units, considering factors such as objectivity, fairness, and compatibility with the existing system.
    • Consult with students, faculty, and academic advisors to gather their input on potential alternative units.
  2. Proposal Development:

    • Based on the research and analysis, develop a proposal outlining the potential alternative units for GPA calculation.
    • Clearly explain the rationale behind each unit and how it addresses the limitations of the current "chicken rice" unit. Review and Approval:
  3. Present the proposal to the relevant academic committee or department for review and approval.

    • Address any concerns or questions raised during the review process.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine the proposal and ensure its alignment with institutional policies and guidelines.
  4. Implementation and Testing:

    • Collaborate with the IT department or system administrators to implement the necessary changes to the GPA calculation system.
    • Conduct thorough testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of the updated system.
    • Inform students and faculty about the introduction of alternative units and provide clear guidelines on their usage and - interpretation.
  5. Feedback and Iteration:

    • Establish a feedback mechanism for students and faculty to provide their thoughts and suggestions on the new GPA calculation system.
    • Monitor the system's performance and gather feedback to identify any issues or areas for improvement.
    • Iterate on the system based on feedback received, making necessary adjustments and refinements. Please prioritize this request as it would greatly enhance the accuracy and fairness of GPA calculation, benefiting the entire student community.
