As an EBI staff member I want to find information on a colleague #41

There are two potential takes on this. I can search EBI.ac.uk and just get EBI people, or search at EMBL.de and get all EMBL people.

Path overflow (ideal):

  1. Go to EMBL.org
  2. Use global search for a name 2b. Optionally facet search by: people (who), area of work (what), location (where)

Before-after flow shown at https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1ECi7wOkY5Xmn9dx2utHIOkxWpeb9rt_yg_P0YEw8Aec/edit

We currently have a couple of systems issues here that we would need to reconcile, to list a few:

  1. Data source
    • EMBL uses LDAP to supply people info
    • EBI uses a Drupal content db
  2. Display of persons
    • EBI typically lists more information (photo, publishing, team members)
  3. Search result display
    • EBI presents search results with more accessory information (photo, contact info)
