The library will be designed in a modular architecture so that workflow developers have to include only the functionality they actually need. The implementation of the library will provide abstractions and functions to:
harvest metadata from endpoints with different API specifications. At least, STAC, OGC
Records and OGC OpenSearch will be supported (epic E43E0)
extract metadata from different datasets and providers (epic E43F0)
perform basic data operations like download, unzip, etc (epic E43H0)
The proposed work will include a review of existing solutions (epic E43D0) and a consolidation of them into an existing or new library. During the review process it will be decided whether a package is migrated into the library's code base or just used as upstream library.
