I have someone estimating it will take 312.50 EOS for 21 mb for an air drop. At the current rate that is over $3,000 USD.

The RAM is expensive. Can we expect to see some form of simple disk storage accessible by smart contracts? Right now the alternative is to launch one's own chain which is kind of over doing it if that is the only reason..

That's a nice idea and it's as relevant today as it was in June.
