The description of the hist-volc experiment and similar single forcing experiments only talk about one (sometimes two) forcing agent(s), what assumptions should be made for atmospheric constituents that are not mentioned in the DAMIP documentation? Can we make the assumption that unnamed atmospheric constituents remain at piControl levels?
Yes, that unnamed atmospheric constituents remain at piControl levels.
Will DAMIP be providing solar forcing data beyond 2015 for the experiments that end in 2020? The ScenarioMIP doesn't specify solar forcing.
The future solar forcing data is provided by SOLARIS-HEPPA as the standard data set for ScenarioMIP. http://solarisheppa.geomar.de/cmip6
Will DAMIP be providing alternative estimates for aerosol and natural (solar & volcanic) forcing for the hist-all-aer2 and hist-all-nat2 experiments? We are coordinating with the forcing teams, and will announce via the DAMIP website and the mailing lists when the forcing data are released.
I have some comments:
(1) Although the future emission and concentration scenario is mentioned as RCP4.5 in the most of experiments, it should be SSP2-4.5. I understand that is RCP4.5 based on SSP2, but some one may misunderstand as RCP4.5 of CMIP5...
(2) hist-aer does not use "Historical simple aerosol plume climatology".
(3) In hist-stratO3, please change "DAMIP histALL Ensemble Mean .. Ozone concentrations" to "CMIP6 Historical Ensemble Mean .. Ozone concentrations", because histALL is the same as the CMIP6 historical runs.
(4) For the initialization of ssp245-XXX (XXX is GHG, startO3, aer or nat), the initial data is taken from the end of hist-XXX.
