New AerChemMIP experiments histSST-noLU and ssp370pdSST #73

Draft versions of these experiments have been added to v109 of the experiments spreadsheet. They can be found on rows 68 and 69 of the "experiment" tab. Queries to follow up with the PI: Is there some online information about these two experiments that I can link to from ES-DOC?

histSST-noLu I reused the Land Use and Land Use Cover forcing constraints from the LUMIP hist-noLu experiment. Need to check that that is what AerChemMIP intended. The CMIP6-CV database lists this experiment as requiring an AOGCM model config but it should be AGCM AER for compatibility with the histSST experiment.

ssp370pdSST This experiment requires present day SST and Sea Ice Concentration calculated from a 2005-2014 Climatology. How should the groups calculate the climatology? Will AerChemMIP provide an input data file instead? Note that the PAMIP experiment pdSST-pdSIC has present day SI and SICONC climatologies with data provided by PAMIP, might those fields be suitable for AerChemMIP?

The experiment spreadsheet in our github repo is still at version 107.
I would like to be able to point the Bill Collins (the AerChemMIP PI) to the latest version (109) which has the draft descriptions for these experiments.

I've emailed the experiments spreadsheet with the draft information about these experiments to Bill Collins for approval. The questions about the experiments that I posed to him have also been added as comments to CMIP6-CV tickets 739 and 759.

I emailed Bill about these two aerchemmip experiments and sent him v110 of the experiment spreadsheet for comment on Friday Feb 28th.

Hi Charlotte, histSST-noLU Yes LU and LUC should be exactly as hist-noLU. This should be AGCM. I don’t think there needs to be an “AER” requirement unless hist-noLU does.

Ssp370pdSST should use SST and SIC from the model’s own historical. Thanks, Bill.

Created new present day SST and SIC forcing constraints for ssp370pdSST.
