ESRL ncep reanalysis #9

I have a colleague at USGS who wants to extract a time series of "lifted index" for Puerto Rico from the NCEP reanalysis here: Top level catalog: http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/thredds/catalog/Datasets/ncep.reanalysis.dailyavgs/surface/catalog.html Dataset level: http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/thredds/catalog/Datasets/ncep.reanalysis.dailyavgs/surface/catalog.html?dataset=Datasets/ncep.reanalysis.dailyavgs/surface/lftx.sfc.2015.nc OPeNDAP Dataset Access Form: http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/thredds/dodsC/Datasets/ncep.reanalysis.dailyavgs/surface/lftx.sfc.2015.nc.html for correlation with observed oxygen isotope ratios in precip data.

Unfortunately this data is not aggregated. It would be easy to aggregate with a few lines of NcML, but unfortunately this thredds server version (Version 4.3.15 - 20121218.1126) is too old to support NcML as part of a datasetScan.

So... @MeteoMan or @rcsd-er, do you know:

  1. who to contact at ESRL about their THREDDS server
  2. if this data is available elsewhere in aggregated form?
