Project Idea: Live Services for ESIP COR

Abstract

Provide a "front page" for the Community Ontology Repository that gives naive users easy access to services of the repository.

Technical Details

One goal of the COR is making access to semantic content easy for beginners. This idea is to provide a 'cover page' with various information panels and activities that serve to present the COR content to naive users.

Service details can be determined by polling the Semantic Technology cluster and evaluation of Minimal Viable Products. Ideas include:

For summary information display:

Number of registered users, number of registered ontologies, number of terms, ontologies updated in last three and six months

Histograms of top users, organizations, science topics, etc. by number of ontologies and terms

For useful services:

Helpful Experience

Comfortable writing web UIs that are populated by, and drive other resources using, external APIs

First steps

Review the APIs for the COR and try some example external service

Hi @graybeal! I am a graduate student pursuing a degree in Geoinformatics. My work involves developing interoperable services for Geospatial applications. So far, I have mostly worked on developing clients for OGC standard services ( Here's a link to very basic SOS client: https://github.com/sdhoundiyal/SOSProject). Recently,I have also been working on Ontologies, OWL, and SPARQL. As such, I understand the importance of this project. I would love the opportunity to contribute to it in this years Google Summer of Code. I will start reviewing the API's, in the meantime, I would appreciate any directions you could give me,
