6 years ago @jedwards4b are you saying that component models will add it's definition and default setting to their cime_config/config_component.xml files? So different component models could define it differently?

6 years ago No - I'm just saying that it's currently defined in config_components.xml and there is a hard code in case.py to define it differently for cesm, I am removing the hard code and the config_component.xml setting and adding it to config_component_cesm.xml and config_component_e3sm.xml

http://www.cesm.ucar.edu/models/cesm2/component_settings/drv_input.html indicates that the default value of DOUT_S is FALSE when it's actually TRUE for cesm.
Moving the definition from the common file to the model specific file will fix this.
