'Ello, 'ello, 'ello - your Release Manager 'ere - now that we have an ESMValCore release candidate (rc2) that we put through the paces and test (most all) ESMValTool recipes, see https://github.com/ESMValGroup/ESMValTool/issues/2833, and with ESMValCore (hopefully) being release as stable 2.7.0 tomorrow, October 13, 2022, I wanted to bring to the attention of @ESMValGroup/esmvaltool-developmentteam that we will freeze ESMValTool on Monday, Octoboer 17, 2022. What's this mean? It means that:

For any special circumstances (ie the PR is not ready-ready and merged, but you still think that will be a very useful addition and should be included in 2.7.0, if only a tad late, please get in touch here).

Cheers and see a lot of you in Exeter next week

ok folks @ESMValGroup/esmvaltool-developmentteam I have created the release branch release_270stable virtually freezing the code; like I says in the post above, if you have anything that must-must go in the release please let me know asap - testing of the recipes will begin Monday (Levante is off with the fishes until Friday, and am travelling back from the workshop on Friday)

Hi @valeriupredoi , I have a small bug fix PR #2862 for ocean transect plots. It's not critical, but currently the recipe_ocean_example.ymland recipe_ocean_bgc.yml produce "empty" transect plots because plt.axes() overwrites the original figure output. PR #2862 should fix this issue.

excellent, cheers, @TomasTorsvik - I added that PR to the Milestone 2.7.0 - all it needs is a cleanup of the PR description and a review from @ledm

@ESMValGroup/esmvaltool-developmentteam could I please ask you to suggest a highlight for this release? This is one feature that got merged since the last release, and you think it's worthy to be a Highlight, please have a look at what got merged since last release here
